Week of June 16th, 2024

Church Updates

In-Person Offerings will be taken the first Sunday of each month. This change will only impact the English congregation at this time. Based upon feedback received during the Open Forum, we will begin taking in-person offerings on the first Sunday of each month. The intent is to encourage and reinforce the giving relationship between us and the Lord as well as recognizing the importance of giving in the overall worship experience.  Online giving will still be available at all times as well as the offering boxes at the rear of the Sanctuary.

Save the date: The 2024 All Church Camp will be held at the Redwood Christian Park Camp near Santa Cruz over the Labor Day weekend, from August 30th to September 2nd.  Our camp theme for this year is “In-N-Out”. Our theme is drawn from the book of 1 John, verse 4:19. The registration will be available this Sunday, during English IBF time, after the Cantonese service in Room 101 and after the Mandarin service in the Fellowship Hall. Online registration is also available on the church website: https://forms.gle/gPNTTeu6qMQbtoFn6

Praise the Lord for 4 individuals from the English congregation who will be getting baptized this Sunday, 6/16, Zac Lew, Beraiah Chan, Anna Chung, and Nathan Kashiwamura. Lunch will be available in the Social Hall at 12:15pm for a small fee (free for guests), and each service will start at 1pm in the sanctuary (Live streaming will be available on the church YouTube channel as well).

Praise the Lord that the Castro Valley Worship ministry has an official name. From here on out it will be called Cross Valley Fellowship.  Please join us for our First trial service (in-person only) next Sunday, 6/23, 3:30pm at Castro Valley First Baptist Church. Please keep Cross Valley Fellowship in your prayers as we continue to plan and prepare for our first service.

On June 23rd, from 12:30pm to 2pm, in Room 221, there will be a workshop about how to handle active shooter situations and how to safeguard our church family.  It will be based on the “ALICE” response training program. ALICE Stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. Come attend the workshop taught by Deacon Ken, who is a certified ALICE training instructor.

To sign up for the workshop and Lunch: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10PdKKF1LHrErh-vs2nnptyksnnbJa7P82ymULqOaoYU/edit?usp=sharing or by sending an email to Deacon Ken at administrativedirector@cibc-oakland.org

The 2024 FLOWER CALENDAR is available for signup. It is posted on the Church Ministry and Church News bulletin board on the hallway. If you wish to sign up, please use the flower envelopes placed on the wall next to the flower calendar, and designate your date(s) to commemorate someone or something.

The bank that we use for CIBC's online giving, Bank of the West, has joined a new banking institution, BMO, so the previous links (QR codes and url) to our online giving have changed.  The CIBC website has already been updated with the new url as well as signs posted around the church.  But, if you happen to have the online giving bookmarked on your web browser, please update that with the new url https://dpm.billeriq.com/ebpp/CIBC/

If you need to park in the parking lot right next to our church on 8th St and block other people's cars on Sundays,  please remember to give your car key to the parking lot usher or people in charge in Room 101, and provide your name and contact number as well. In addition, please pick up your car key in the parking lot after the Sunday services as soon as possible. If you come late, please find your key in a black box on the wall of Room 101.
